February Section Meeting

This month’s section meeting will be held on the Friday, February 26, 11:30 am. at the Spaghetti Warehouse, 1226 E Houston St, San Antonio, TX 78205.  Representatives from our state chapter will be in attendance at our February 26 section meeting for a conference committee member orientation.

Call for State Conference Committee Members!

As many of you know, San Antonio has the honor of hosting the 2016 APA Texas Annual conference on November 2-4, 2016. Our section membership has the opportunity to serve on the subcommittees to prepare for the conference and make sure it has a “local flavor.” We ask that please consider embracing this opportunity to volunteer for one of these subcommittees. The conference planning subcommittees are listed below with brief descriptions of each:

  1. Program

Determine and coordinate overall conference sessions/tracts and speakers. Recommend plenary and keynote speakers. Provide info for CM credits application and conference brochure.

  1. Short Course

Coordinates planning commissioner sessions/tracts and speakers. Works closely with program subcommittee.

  1. Law & Ethics

Determines and coordinates Law and Ethics sessions/tract and speakers. Works closely with Program Subcommittee.

  1. Emerging Planning Leaders (EPL)

Coordinates EPL sessions/tract and speakers.

  1. Mobile Workshops

Develop and coordinate mobile workshop ideas, speakers and schedules.

  1. Publicity & Marketing

Marketing material for upcoming conference. Develop preliminary and final program brochure and session signs. General PR and media outreach. Conference packets, giveaways, bags, swag, etc.

  1. Transportation

Coordinate travel for mobile workshops, social events and other activities as needed.

  1. Social Events

Opening reception and evening events planning (food, location, theme, entertainment, etc). Determine transportation and volunteer needs. Breaks between sessions during conference.

  1. Registration

Manage registration desk and area, as well as the job mart.

  1. Students

Develop special activities and conference programs for students. Recruit, assign and manage student volunteers.
