Message from the Director

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Director for the Southwest Texas Section of the American Planning Association for the next 2 years!  This is a very exciting time for Planning in our part of Texas and I’m looking forward to continuing to grow our organization to meet the needs of our members.

I’m honored to serve alongside an exceptional group of Planners who have volunteered to take a leadership role in the Section.  Please welcome your new Board members:

Sophia Lopez, Assistant Director
Krystin Ramirez, Treasurer
Kristin Flores, Secretary
John Osten, AICP, Professional Development Officer
Jacob Floyd, AICP, Public Information Officer
Rudy Nino, AICP, Immediate Past Director

I would also like to thank our outgoing Board members for their service – Shanon Mattingly, AICP, Hannah Santiago, AICP, Linda Alvarado-Vela, AICP, and Christopher Looney, AICP.

Our goal is to promote good planning by providing you will the tools you need to meet the opportunities and challenges associated with growth and change.  We’ll be sending out a survey soon to gauge your interest in different section activities and initiatives.  The Board members will meet in January to review the results of the survey and put together a new strategic plan for the Section based on your input.

We’ll be resuming our monthly Section meetings in December.  We’ll also be hosting a Holiday Social in December.  More details coming soon!

Thank you again for this opportunity and please let me know if you have suggestions for improving our Section!

VIA Vision 2040 Survey

VIA Vision 2040

VIA Metropolitan Transit has launched an interactive, online survey in support of “Vision 2040,” a planning process to update the agency’s Long Range Comprehensive Transportation Plan.

The survey is an engagement tool that will provide VIA with valuable insight into how citizens in the greater San Antonio region view public transportation, what their transportation priorities are, and what enhancements they would like to see for the future. The survey is located at www.vision2040survey.com, and it will be active through July 4, 2015.
